Diversity/Equality of Opportunity
Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg stands for an open and transparent university culture. It sees dealing competently with diversity and cultural variety as an enhancement for university life and as a source of potential for society as a whole. Neither individual nor structural discrimination and disadvantage are tolerated, but instead made visible so that they can be changed.
In this context, the University undertakes to enable all of its members to enjoy equal learning and living conditions. Students and staff should be able, irrespective of their gender, age, origin, religion or disability, to learn, research and work together. To this end, the University intends to become a centre of excellence for diversity development in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The communications and cooperation skills that enable the academic system to become non-discriminatory, should be developed and integrated in all structural units with management relevance. The responsibility for meeting this challenge in a lasting way is borne by every member of the University of Magdeburg.
