Bilingual Computer Science

Applications will be accepted for applicants from abroad by Uni-Assist between May 15 and July 15. Please send us a short mail to to introduce yourself and let us know you’re applying – we’re curious to get to know you! We’ll also send you a Newsletter for Applicants.
For internationals, we recommend that you apply as early as possible within this timeframe, as only upon acceptance can you apply for a visa. Plan on waiting about two months between completing your application and getting your acceptance. See www.inf.ovgu.de/en/BiBa for further information on the application process.

a) German Track: German of at least Level B2 and English Level at least B2 according to the Common European Reference Framework.

b) English Track: English of at least Level B2 according to the Common European Reference Framework. Highly recommended before you start your studies, although not obligatory for your application: German of at least Level A1 according to the Common European Reference Framework.

Candidates fulfilling these requirements are further subject to a process of eligibility assessment, conducted according to the regulations. Be sure to submit all required documents to complete your application.

Study

In this degree program, students acquire in-depth specialist knowledge in the core areas of Computer Science. These include: databases, programming, mathematics, the architecture of computers and computer networks, and system programming. Over and above this, examples of current computer science topics with relevance to society include multimedia, bioinformatics, security and human-machine interfaces.
You choose your course combination on your own, and can focus on topics like Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity.

To be able to work as a professional computer scientist in English and in German.

Career Perspectives

You will be able to work in your profession as a computer scientist. However, you will be particularly well equipped to work which is done in multi-national teams. Areas which require such powerful teams are for work with the environment, for artificial intelligence, and for cyber security.

More information

Our BiBa has two tracks:

a) German Track: You begin by taking your computer science and math courses in German. As soon as you have completed your English Top-Up, you can take computer science courses in English, at the latest in your 3rd year.

b) English Track: You begin by taking your computer science and math courses in English. At the same time, you take German courses until you have achieved the Level of B2 in German. As soon as you have completed level B2 in German, i.e. at the latest in your 3rd year, you can take computer science courses in German.

 

It is possible to do a semester abroad at our partner university in an English-speaking part of Canada.
