From Master’s Degree to Doctorate
The conferral of a doctorate is the awarding of the post-graduate academic degree of doctor in a particular subject area and demonstrates the holder’s capacity to pursue academic work in greater depth. It is based on an independent academic thesis, the dissertation, and an oral examination. Doctoral students at the University of Magdeburg work on challenging scientific questions and are supervised in the process by experienced research staff. The Graduate Academy of the University of Magdeburg provides an environment in which scientific knowledge gains and professional qualifications dovetail to optimal effect.
