Graduate Programmes
Research training groups are university institutions for promoting emerging researchers that are funded by the DFG for a maximum of nine years. Their key role is to qualify doctoral researchers within the framework of a focused research programme and structured training strategy. Research training groups with an interdisciplinary approach are desirable. Their objective is to intensively prepare doctoral researchers for the complex "Science" labour market and simultaneously support their early scientific independence. Alongside the research training groups there are also graduate schools established as institutions for the structured promotion of doctoral researchers within the framework of the Excellence Initiative.
