Applying via uni-assist e.V.
Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg is a uni-assist member. That means that all applications for admission from applicants who have obtained their entrance qualification for higher education (for bachelor degree) and/or Master’s degree abroad are pre-checked by uni-assist e.V. This also applies to Master's applications if a 1st Master's degree has already been obtained in Germany (exception: OVGU graduates).
For all applicants who apply with an international educational qualification (A-Levels, High School Diploma, International Baccalaureate, Feststellungsprüfung or similar), the application is also made via the uni-assist e.V., irrespective of the applicant’s nationality.
Please note that applications for the Master's degree programmes Integrative Neuroscience and Performance Analysis of Sport are always made via uni-assist.
Exceptions
- Prospective students of human medicine can find more information on the application process directly on the website of the Faculty of Medicine.
- Prospective students for the first semester of the Bachelor of Psychology programme who are citizens of an EU member state, the EEA states Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland or have a German university entrance qualification (Bildungsinländer:innen) must first register via Hochschulstart and then apply to OVGU. On this page, you will find detailed information on how to apply for the first semester of Psychology.
- Foreign nationals must apply directly to the university, if they
- have already been enrolled at OVGU at any time in the past;
- have obtained their Bachelor's degree in Germany and are seeking a Master's degree;
- are interested in teacher training programmes; further education programmes; doctoral programmes/doctoral studies;
- are scholarship holders for the Master's programme "Peace and Conflict Studies", CONACyT applicants from Mexico.

- Apply online via my.uni-assist.de and follow the instructions regarding the respective degree programme there;
- Upload your application documents during the online application process.
- The submission of additional/missing documents is only possible within the application deadline.
- Please do not send any documents to the university.
Uni-assist will inform you as soon as your application has been forwarded to the university. The university will then usually contact you within four weeks.
- University entrance qualification
- Secondary school leaving certificate in original language and sworn translation (into German or English) with grades and overview of subjects;
- If taken: university entrance examination passed in the home country in the original language and sworn translation;
- Certificates for years of study already completed at other universities;
- If taken: Certificate of the assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung).
- Master's entrance qualification:
- University degrees (Bachelor's, Master's) including subject and grade overviews, diplomas in original language and sworn translation (into German or English);
- Note: Student from the European Union can hand in their diplomas until the enrolment (at the latest).
- Language certificate in German or English, see short description of your degree programme:
- German: At least B2 for participation in the Studienkolleg, at least C1 for participation in the DSH exam;
- English: TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent language certificate. The uni-assist TOEFL code is: 2727;

- Applicants from India, the People's Republic of China and Vietnam must enclose a (digital) original certificate from the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) in New Delhi, Beijing or Hanoi.
- Special documents (only if they are required for your desired degree programme, e.g.); letter of motivation, proof of internship, letter of recommendation, proof of aptitude tests - please check the requirements of the respective programs in the short descriptions.

Uni-assist e.V. examines whether all the necessary documents have been submitted and determines your HZB (higher education entrance qualification) and/or MZB (Master's entrance qualification) for the desired degree programme. Furthermore, they check if you meet the language requirements and reviews further documents you might have sent.
You will be informed regularly about the status of your application and the result of the examination. If the result is positive, your application is going to be forwarded to the university electronically. The staff needs approx. 4 weeks to make a decision on the possible admission/rejection. Please do not send any enquiries about the status of your application during this period. You are definitely going to receive a message as soon as a decision has been taken.
Your data will be stored at uni-assist for four years.
