7. Certificate, academic record and deregistration

Will I automatically receive my certificate, or can I have it sent to me if I no longer live in Magdeburg?

No, certificates are not sent automatically – it is assumed that graduates will collect their certificates in person (e.g., during office hours or by appointment). Upon request, the Examinations Office will send the certificate by post to students residing in Germany; please send a request with your address to the Examinations Office. Mailings abroad are handled by the Campus Service Center for a fee.

Can I have a grade report/performance overview generated that only shows passed exams and not failed attempts?

Yes, upon request, the examinations office will issue such a grade certificate, which only lists the passed courses (students cannot request this themselves). However, it will still show on which attempt the respective module was passed.

Will I automatically be de-registered if I pass my final exams?

No. You must fill out the deregistration application, sign it, and send it to the examinations office (currently, a scan is also possible): https://www.ovgu.de/unimagdeburg_media/Exmatrikulationsantrag.pdf (form only accessible from the university network)

What happens if I don't fill out the deregistration application?

They are deregistered through administrative channels, but then have no right to a certificate of deregistration – which is important as proof of their professional career for authorities.
