This accessibility statement applies to the website of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (hereafter referred to as OVGU) published on www.ovgu.de, which is provided via the central content management system, Egotec, by the University Computer Center.

This statement provides information about how you can obtain assistance, should there be any issues with the accessibility of the website.

As a public entity as defined by Directive (EU) 2016/2102, OVGU strives to make its website and mobile applications accessible in line with

The requirements concerning the accessibility of the website published by OVGU are contained in:

• § 16a paragraph 1 sentence 1 and paragraph 2 BBG LSA,

This web presence is only partially accessible.

The content listed below is not accessible:

• Images and graphic functions do not have clear alternative texts throughout.
• Not all videos and audio have a transcript that describes what can be seen in the video or heard in the audio file.
• Not all videos have subtitles.
• The programmatically determinable hierarchy of headings sometimes differs from the content structure of the site.
• Some quotations are not programmatically tagged as quotations.
• Not all lists are tagged as HTML lists.
• Some visible paragraphs are not tagged as HTML paragraphs (p).
• Tabular data are not always tagged as data tables in HTML.
• Some labels of form fields and form groups are not programmatically linked with the form field or the form group.
• Not all form fields have a visible label.
• Not all error messages are programmatically linked with the form field.
• When using the arrow keys to navigate, not all content is understandable or easy to use, for example the subsections of the main navigation.

• Names, roles or conditions for assistive technologies (e.g., screen reader) are not identifiable for all operating controls.
• In the case of user-defined settings, not all functions and contents are consistently identifiable and usable.

Reason for the lack of accessible design

OVGU is working continuously on improving its web presence. Due to the wealth of material on the website, it has not yet been able to ensure the digital accessibility of all content and services. We are working towards quickly removing all barriers for people with disabilities.
