Volkswagen Foundation - for refugees from Afghanistan

In 2015, the Volkswagen Foundation launched a visiting research programme for academics from Afghanistan to support them by enabling them to spend time in Germany.

Scope of Funding:	All subject areas Duration up to 2 years Maximum funding amount 150,000 euros Those currently receiving funding from the Foundation have the opportunity to integrate Afghan scientists who have fled into their current project to complement their research project. additional travel and material funds of up to 10,000 euros per year are possible Special family-related benefits as an additional benefit
Eligibility:	Applications must be submitted jointly by the university management and the host researcher. Residence status must enable the person to be sponsored to pursue a research activity at the host institution. The person must have had to leave Afghanistan for acute reasons at the time of application or must have had to leave Afghanistan for acute reasons at the time of application. The person has the potential to integrate into the science-related labour market. Those currently funded by the Foundation or who have been funded by the Foundation in the past 10 years may integrate guest researchers into their research context and support them at their institutes for up to 2 years.
Deadline:	Application is possible at any time and without a deadline after contact has been made
