Objectives
The study programme imparts basic knowledge in sports medicine, natural sciences, training and exercise science as well as social, socio-educational and educational sciences and combines this with diverse experiences in sports and exercise practice. Depending on the chosen field of study, students deepen their knowledge and skills in a focus topic. In the specialisation Health Sport, students acquire special medical-functional and health-scientific, training-scientific and sports-therapeutic, educational-pedagogical as well as methodological expertise. They are enabled to design, realise and evaluate health sport, to implement intervention programmes and to accompany them scientifically or to work in an advisory capacity for various interested parties. In the study focus Leisure and Competitive Sports/Psychology, the focus is on exercise and training science, sport-specific and practical sports courses, with the aim of addressing the broad spectrum from club to trainer activities in a career-oriented manner.
Career Perspectives
The degree qualifies for direct career entry into diverse fields of activity in the sports and health sector in different organisations and institutions such as clubs and associations, kindergartens, schools and companies, adult and senior education centres, private health and fitness centres, etc. Graduates are qualified to instruct and supervise different target groups (children and young people, senior citizens, etc.) as trainers or coaches or exercise leaders. Through competences in coaching, planning, leading, evaluating and designing training and competition processes, they can also take on management and leadership activities. In addition, there is the possibility of subject-specific continuation of academic training within the framework of the Master's degree programme in Sports Science.
Competencies and Interests Required
Interest in sport is a prerequisite; own sporting activity is an advantage. Curiosity, joy and fun in working with people in sporting fields of activity are also required.
More information
