Objectives
In the "Mechanical Engineering" degree programme, the focus is on teaching engineering methods, the application of which requires a solid basic knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences and technology. Students acquire sound knowledge and skills to work on theoretical and application-related problems independently, holistically and solution-oriented as well as interdisciplinary. They specialise individually in their chosen specialisation.
In the "Bachelor Mechanical Engineering Dual" degree programme, the Bachelor's degree programme is combined with relevant vocational training to form a training-integrated dual degree programme.
Majors
- Product development
- Manufacturing
Career Perspectives
Mechanical engineering graduates are needed in all classic and innovative industrial sectors. Very good employment prospects are offered in all areas of mechanical, plant, automotive and vehicle engineering, energy and aeronautical engineering, but also in related fields, e.g. medical technology. Typical fields of application are, for example, calculation (design), simulation, construction and development, experimentation and testing, production, quality assurance, maintenance/servicing and recycling. The degree also qualifies students to continue their academic education within the framework of a Master's programme, which is equivalent to the Diplom-Ingenieur in terms of the scope of training.
Competencies and Interests Required
Solid school knowledge in mathematics and physics as well as a basic understanding of technology are required. In addition, an interest in technical and scientific issues is a good prerequisite for the degree programme.
The start of practical vocational training before the start of the study programme and the associated practical phases promote the understanding of the course contents already in the initial semesters and are recognised as basic practical training.
More information
The degree programme is structured in such a way that students specialise in a specialisation (from semester 4) according to their interests on the basis of a basic compulsory programme (semesters 1 to 3). After semester 4, the Bachelor's programme is interrupted for two semesters for the in-company training phase. Proof of a skilled worker's qualification is recognised as a specialised internship.
The programme is completed with a Bachelor's thesis in the 8th semester.
