Objectives
Students receive an almost equal-weight education in engineering sciences and economics. This enables them to solve complex tasks at the interface between business and technology. Comparable study courses exist in Europe and in the USA, which opens the possibility for foreign stays. In addition, internships, labs and project work ensure a broad application.
In the "Bachelor Industrial Engineering / Mechanical Engineering, Dual" degree programme, the Bachelor's degree programme is combined with relevant vocational training to form a training-integrated dual degree programme.
Majors
- Production technology and organization
- Resource efficiency and sustainability
Career Perspectives
The study program open graduates a broad career prospect in Germany and abroad, especially in industrial and commercial enterprises. Typical areas of application are: controlling, project management, investment and financing, technical purchasing and distribution and company management. Graduates are able to take on management tasks and solve complex problems of industrial production together with specialists. The degree also enables the continuation of academic training within a (consecutive) master's course, which is equivalent to the Diplom-Ingenieur in terms of the scope of training.
Competencies and Interests Required
Solid school knowledge in mathematics and physics as well as a basic understanding of technology are required. In addition, an interest in technical and scientific issues is a good prerequisite for the degree programme.
The start of practical vocational training before the start of the study programme and the associated practical phases promote the understanding of the course contents already in the initial semesters and are recognised as basic practical training.
More information
The degree programme is structured in such a way that students complete a basic compulsory programme in semesters 1 to 4. After semester 4, the Bachelor's programme is interrupted for two semesters for the in-company training phase. Proof of a skilled worker's qualification is recognised as a specialised internship. According to their interests, students can specialise in a specialisation (semesters 7 and 8). As a new form of teaching, students work on projects in teams during the semester. The programme is completed with a Bachelor's thesis in the 9th semester.
