FONA funding measures for sustainability research

The funding measures contribute to the flagship initiatives (Green Economy, Future City, Energy Transition) and contribute significantly to the four areas of precautionary research in FONA. Research for sustainability is active precaution for the future: it provides the knowledge needed to tackle global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, environmental pollution, biodiversity loss and the transformation to a sustainable society. Research for Civil Security (Sifo) 2018-2023

How can the security of citizens be improved? What can research do to prevent disasters and to best protect and equip rescue forces in action? How can the potential of digital transformation be used for the development of civil security solutions? These and other questions are addressed by civil security research as part of the Federal Government's High-Tech Strategy.

The programme is divided into three pillars:

Protection and rescue of people
Protection of critical infrastructures
Protection against crime and terrorism

In addition, cross-sectional topics address both current technological and societal developments as well as overarching themes and issues.

Since the programme was launched, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research has funded more than 450 collaborative projects with 1,925 sub-projects.

Research funding measures of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE)

The Project Management Agency of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (PT BLE) is a central implementing agency in the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). In addition, PT BLE also works for the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and for the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG).

In order to ensure appropriate funding for the wide range of topics and objectives of the BMEL, there are various funding measures and areas.

The project executing agency for the BMVI's research programmes is the Federal Roads Office and the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR). Furthermore, the Federal Minister is also the Commissioner of the federal government for the new federal states and as such, like the BBR, publishes thematic calls for research and technology transfer.
